While the Rotary contributes to many worthy community and international causes each year, the Club is perhaps best known for the annual Rotary Scholarships.
To qualify for a Rotary Scholarship, applicants complete an extensive questionnaire which includes information on grade point average, standing in the class, extra-curricular activities and other community service work. In addition, the students are asked to complete several short-answer essays regarding their interpretation of the principles of Rotary such as the Motto and the 4-Way Test. While need is considered, the Rotary Scholarship is not a need-based scholarship.
The scholarships are available to any student residing in the Jefferson School District, including those attending private schools.
Applications are available online though the Jefferson School District website under the Counseling tab. High scoring applicants are interviewed by a committee of Rotarians who make the ultimate decision on the scholarship winners.
